Spring Series: Maggie's Personal Planning Experience
We are SO excited that our very own Lead Event Assistant, Miss Maggie, is E N G A G E D! We thought it would be fun to take you guys on the planning journey + provide personalized tips from the bride-to-be herself as we begin planning her big day in November! Let’s start off taking a second to learn a little more about Maggie and her sweet beau, Robert!
Ashley: How did you and Robert meet?
Maggie: Robert and I met on a ski retreat weekend with the college ministry that we were both involved in. We first met on the mountain. I didn’t see or hear from Robert for a couple of weeks until he literally showed up on my doorstep one night (with the help of some of our mutual friends) and we’ve been together since!
Ashley: How did you know Robert was ‘the one’?
Maggie: It wasn’t just one moment that I knew that Robert was ’the one’, but more like a bunch of little things over time. First, I loved that he loved the Lord and truly showed it through his life. He could always make me laugh and smile. Above all, he has continually loved and fought for me and our relationship through the easy and hard moments. I was always cautious when it came to relationships, but when it came to Robert, it immediately felt different! It felt so right and secure from the very beginning!
Ashley: Tell us all about the proposal!
Maggie: The proposal was beyond perfect! Robert had told me that he had planned a makeup Valentine’s date since we didn’t get to celebrate on February 14th. The next weekend, he came and picked me up for what I thought was going to be a nice lunch date. As soon as we pulled out of the driveway, he started driving in the opposite direction of the restaurant and we ended up on Edisto Island. Edisto is such a special place to my family and me. I have grown up going there every summer and the island holds so many memories. Robert knew this and wanted to have this memory on the Island too. We walked on the beach for what seemed like forever until we came up on a clearing. There were rose petals on the ground and champagne waiting. When we got to the petals he handed me a hand-written note that explained everything about the importance of today. After reading the note, Robert got down on one knee. It was the easiest yes ever! Just when I thought the day couldn’t get any better, Robert surprised me with our families and close friends waiting on us when we got back to Charleston to celebrate the perfect day!
Ashley: What are you looking forward to the MOST about planning your own wedding?
Maggie: After helping so many other beautiful brides with their weddings, I am so excited that I get to plan my own! The whole process so far had been so much fun! I think my favorite part so far has been finding my dress. Since I was a little girl, I have been thinking of this day and always wondered what my dress would look like. The one I selected was nothing that I thought it would be, but at the same time, it is better than I could have ever imagined! I am so excited to wear it!
